Before the founder of Chavil Creation, Sophia Chen, was learning the intricacies of jewelry craftsmanship—her father was doing it. And her father’s mother was doing it. Jewelry became known in her household as a craft that could transcend generations, carrying with it stories of family legacy. 

At a young age, Sophia was enamored by watching the fire and forge of melted gold, poured into molds of all shapes and sizes. She learned how her family sorted gems to find the most excellent of stones, and beauty began to grip her heart. 

Beyond the appreciation for diamonds and sapphires, Sophia learned the wonder of crafting jewelry that carried a story. And the joy of receiving and giving a timeless gift. 

Being raised in a family of jewelers, throughout Sophia’s life jewelry was given as a present to mark important milestones. A few months old, she received her first piece of jewelry made of gold, given to celebrate her entrance into the world. It was both a deposit into the wealth of her family and a gift that marked the beginning of a story. From then on, her story would continue to be marked by the giving and receiving of precious metals and gemstones, celebrating each significant memory along the way.
